Description
Traditionally Crafted Ceremonial Stone Club – White Ash wood handle, East Prong Roaring River granite, Elk rawhide lace, Bear hair, Horse tail, brass bead and buckskin make up the spirit of this piece. This was a way for me to pay homage to the technology of my American ancestors and tools which paved the way for our more modern efficiencies.
The Horse for its speed and swiftness, the Bear for it’s strength, the Elk for its endurance, and the buckskin for grip and sure-footedness. The granite tumbled smooth by mountain streams near my home, and the Ash is a hardwood yet flexible enough for working. The history of brass dates back to around 5,000 BCE but nothing is quite as old as stone so these beads are not only decorative but included as a nod to humankinds progress and constant drive forward.
